"Green Open Access as a global solution? Some reflections based on the PEER Project"

Abstract: Many assume that Green OA could be a global and universal solution to achieve open access to the scholarly literature - at least for research articles, possibly more publications. Based on preliminary evidence from the PEER Project (a large-scale and joint experiment by STM publishers, repositories and the research community - www.peerproject.eu) and ongoing work on scholarly communication and repositories, this presentation will highlight the issue of organizing the deposit process on a large scale and then discuss the observation of the deposit process and scholarly communication through usage, behavioral and economic research (PEER Observatory).
